Dating Safety Tips

GlitterDates does not guarantee identity or conduct background checks on every member. Move at your own pace, trust your judgment, and stop communicating whenever something feels wrong.
While getting to know someone
- Keep early conversations in GlitterDates messaging so block and access controls remain available.
- Be cautious when a person quickly asks to move elsewhere, professes intense feelings, avoids reasonable questions, or gives inconsistent answers.
- Do not share your home or work address, daily routine, financial information, passwords, government identifiers, or private verification codes.
- Never send money, cryptocurrency, gift cards, banking access, or investments to someone you met through a dating service.
- Use your own research and consider a video conversation before meeting. A profile photo approval is not identity verification.
Planning an in-person meeting
- Meet in a populated public place and arrange your own transportation both ways.
- Tell a trusted person who you are meeting, where you will be, and when you expect to return. Share your plans rather than another member’s private profile data.
- Keep your phone charged and accessible. Set a check-in time or a simple exit plan.
- Do not rely on your date for accommodation, transportation, medication, or access to essential belongings.
- Limit alcohol or other substances so you can make clear decisions. Watch your food and drinks.
- Leave immediately if boundaries are ignored or you feel unsafe. You do not owe politeness, an explanation, or a second meeting.
Consent and sexual health
Consent must be informed, voluntary, specific, and ongoing. Anyone can change their mind at any time. Silence, prior contact, a match, or going to a private place is not consent. Discuss boundaries, contraception, and sexual health openly, and use protection appropriate to your circumstances. Seek qualified local health guidance when needed.
Long-distance and travel safety
Be especially careful with requests for travel money, visas, emergency payments, package fees, or financial help. Keep control of your passport, tickets, funds, and accommodation. Tell trusted people about travel plans and learn how to contact emergency and consular services at your destination.
Use GlitterDates safety controls
Block a member to prevent profile visibility and further interactions. Report profiles or conduct that may violate the Community Guidelines. Blocking and reporting are separate actions; use both when appropriate. Preserve relevant messages or details for authorities if serious harm, threats, fraud, or exploitation may have occurred.
Get immediate help locally
GlitterDates cannot provide emergency response. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For stalking, domestic or sexual violence, fraud, trafficking, or mental-health crisis support, contact a reputable service in your country or region. Availability and numbers differ worldwide.
